Concrete Driveway FAQs
Is a concrete overlay suitable for my existing driveway with surface imperfections?
Yes. A concrete overlay is suitable and an excellent solution for addressing surface imperfections in existing driveways. It provides a fresh and durable surface with decorative options.
The concrete overlay is also only as good as the slab underneath; therefore, we will evaluate your slab before recommending the solution.
If the concrete slab has structural problems, removal and replacement is generally preferable.
How long does it take to install a concrete driveway?
Project timelines vary based on size and complexity. Typically, a standard concrete driveway installation takes a few days, while decorative options may require a few weeks.
Are stamped and stained concrete driveways durable?
Yes, both stamped and stained concrete driveways are durable and designed to withstand the rigors of daily use and varying weather conditions. Proper maintenance ensures longevity:
- wipe up all chemical solvent or petroleum spills ass soon as possible
- remove abrasive debris by sweeping or vacuuming
- do not drag, drop or place sharp edges on sealed surfaces
- periodic washings with mild detergent
- do not use solvent or acid-based cleaning materials for general cleaning
Can a concrete driveway be extended or widened after installation?
Yes, we offer services for extending or widening existing concrete driveways. Our team assesses your needs, evaluates your survey and setbacks and provides solutions for seamless extensions or modifications.
Do HOAs in this area typically approve San Antonio Concrete Driveway?
HOAs in San Antonio typically approve concrete driveways after we work together to submit required paperwork. This typically includes completing an application, submitting drawings and answering potential additional questions such as location in relation to the survey setbacks. The HOA meeting to approve projects typically occurs each month.
Can I install San Antonio Concrete Driveway myself or should I hire this company?
Some homeowners choose to install concrete themselves; however, we are often hired for driveways as we have experience with placement of driveways, permitting and concrete stamping/staining. If you're looking to hire a driveway contractor, our experience and quality craftmanship will be an investment you'll enjoy for years to come. Call us today!
What add-ons are available with San Antonio Concrete Driveway from this company?
Add-ons for concrete driveways in San Antonio include:
- Stamp, Stain and/or Decorative Borders
- Sidewalks
How long does it take to complete a concrete project?
Project timelines vary based on the scope and complexity. Typically, the concrete forms are set and then quality inspected over a few days. After that, the pour typically occurs in a day. The drying process (during which we will ask that you stay off your concrete) typically takes a few days. If selected, the stamp and stain process take additional days during the overall process. We prioritize efficiency without compromising quality, ensuring timely completion of your project.
How do I maintain stained and/or stamped concrete?
Stained and stamped concrete is low-maintenance. While all concrete compounds will eventually exhibit effects of weathering and traffic, regular sweeping and occasional mopping are usually sufficient to keep them looking their best. For maximum coating and life:
- Wipe up all chemical solvent or petroleum spills as soon as possible
- Remove abrasive debris by sweeping or vacuuming
- Do not drag, drop or place sharp edges on sealed surfaces
- Periodically wash with mild detergent
- Do not use solvent or acid-based cleaning materials for general cleaning
In most cases, concrete does not need to be sealed every year.
What permits or approvals might be required and can you assist with that process?
Permits or approvals can be required by the city. Some homeowners also have HOAs.
We can help you check what jurisdiction(s) to which your property may be subject.
Integrated Outdoor Designs helps you work through the permitting and HOA processes, if required, to ensure compliance with local codes and regulations.

How will my project meet my expectations, and what is your commitment to customer satisfaction?
To ensure we meet expectations, the contract includes detailed drawings and addendums. Materials and design are written and agreed to prior to starting your project. We will also walk the project with you.
We are committed to delivering exceptional results that align with your vision. Your project success and satisfaction are paramount to us, and our team is dedicated to making your project a success.
What sets your services apart from others?
Our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction distinguishes us. We prioritize using quality materials and skilled professionals for every project.
Why do all homeowners have to be at the initial appointment?
There are many design choices involved in the initial appointment including size, location, materials and colors. We've found that when all homeowners are part of the creation of their project, they:
- Are much more satisfied with the design
- Can easily discuss changes to size, location, materials and colors
- Find a price that works for their budget
- Participate in an appointment that is creative, efficient and fun!
What should I expect to happen at my appointment?
We request an initial appointment timeline of two hours. While it may not take this long, we always strive to accomplish & you should expect certain procedures that happen at the initial appointment:
- Your designer will walk the space with you.
- He or she listens to understand how you envision using your outdoor living area.
- We will take detailed measurements of the current existing structures and those areas in which we will build.
- The team member will then sit with you all inside, at a table, to discuss design choices, pros and cons of each and make recommendations for your unique home, goals and budget.
- As you make choices, the designer will create detailed drawings of the project and price based on your selections.
Why can you not give me a 'ballpark' estimate, price per square foot or price range for my project?
We do not give 'ballpark' estimates, price per square foot or price ranges as there are a variety of factors that go into designing and pricing your project.
For example, your home may be on a slope - impacting deck height or concrete depth.
The material choices you make, even down to the color, can also significantly influence price. For example, composite wood may be more expensive but has a longer life than natural wood.
Even factors such as location of gates and access to the property can impact pricing. For example, the price to pump concrete in varies from the price it costs when material must be hand-carted or carried into the backyard.
For this reason, we design and price projects at the property with all homeowners' present.
Is my project too small for your Company?
We love projects of all sizes! Our project minimum investment is typically $3,000 (for wood) and $5,500 (for concrete). As quality is our number one value, most of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals - so many clients have chosen to complete multiple projects with us and at higher investment levels. We are also happy to phase out your project(s), if that is best for you. No matter the size, we believe you will be creating additional property value and meaningful space for your family to make joyful memories.
