Regarding the first method, we introduce our premium Uni-Mix Integral Concrete Color system early in the process, either at the concrete production facility or onsite before the pouring commences. This popular technique ensures that the foundational color is uniformly distributed throughout the concrete, offering a consistent and lasting hue that becomes the focal point of your stamped concrete designs.
The Uni-Mix System is highly regarded among industry professionals, from contractors to architects, for its superior quality and unique composition, giving it a distinct edge over attempts by others to replicate our exclusive shades. To guarantee authenticity and satisfaction, we advise obtaining the specific lot numbers of the color mix for verification before pouring begins.
Alternatively, for those interested in exploring more color options or seeking a surface with enhanced durability and color intensity, the Butterfield Color Perma-Cast Shake-On Color Hardener presents an excellent choice. This method involves broadcasting the hardener onto the concrete at the initial finishing stages, where it is then expertly worked into the surface to establish the base color. It’s important to note that not all contractors offer the option of using color hardeners, so we recommend discussing your color preferences and project requirements with us in advance to achieve the perfect outcome.
Step 02
Washing & Cutting
Your contractor will proceed with washing and making cuts into the concrete slab once it has set, typically between 12 to 24 hours after pouring. While the thought of cuts might seem to detract from the aesthetic appeal, they are essential for the integrity of the concrete.
We usually plan the placement of these saw cuts in consultation with you prior to the concrete pouring, to ensure you’re well-informed about the process.
It’s important to note that the true vibrancy and final shades will only manifest after the sealing and complete curing of the concrete.

Sealing
Be aware that surfaces that have been sealed can become slippery during application, prior to drying, and when they are exposed to water or other liquids.
It is important to recognize that surfaces treated with sealant can present a slip hazard during application, before they have dried, and when encountering moisture. To mitigate this risk, especially in outdoor settings, we incorporate a non-slip additive into the sealing process. For those desiring a less glossy appearance, we also offer a flattening paste that achieves a matte finish.

To preserve the surface’s shine, consider gentle washes with mild detergents.

There are many design choices involved in the initial appointment including size, location, materials and colors. We've found that when all homeowners are part of the creation of their project, they:

What should I expect to happen at my appointment?
We request an initial appointment timeline of two hours. While it may not take this long, we always strive to accomplish & you should expect certain procedures that happen at the initial appointment:
- Your designer will walk the space with you.
- He or she listens to understand how you envision using your outdoor living area.
- We will take detailed measurements of the current existing structures and those areas in which we will build.
- The team member will then sit with you all inside, at a table, to discuss design choices, pros and cons of each and make recommendations for your unique home, goals and budget.
- As you make choices, the designer will create detailed drawings of the project and price based on your selections.
Why can you not give me a 'ballpark' estimate, price per square foot or price range for my project?
We do not give 'ballpark' estimates, price per square foot or price ranges as there are a variety of factors that go into designing and pricing your project.
For example, your home may be on a slope - impacting deck height or concrete depth.
The material choices you make, even down to the color, can also significantly influence price. For example, composite wood may be more expensive but has a longer life than natural wood.
Even factors such as location of gates and access to the property can impact pricing. For example, the price to pump concrete in varies from the price it costs when material must be hand-carted or carried into the backyard.
For this reason, we design and price projects at the property with all homeowners' present.
Is my project too small for your Company?
We love projects of all sizes! Our project minimum investment is typically $3,000 (for wood) and $5,500 (for concrete). As quality is our number one value, most of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals - so many clients have chosen to complete multiple projects with us and at higher investment levels. We are also happy to phase out your project(s), if that is best for you. No matter the size, we believe you will be creating additional property value and meaningful space for your family to make joyful memories.
What is the process for a Home project with your business?
The process for a home project with Integrated Outdoor Designs includes:
- Calling to set a free estimate appointment with all homeowners on property
- Completing the design and pricing process, typically over one to two two-hour appointments (weeks)
- Signing a contract, addendums and drawings
- Scheduling build, typically within 4-8 weeks depending on time of year and current projects
- Completing build, typically over a few days to several months depending on the complexity and size of project
- Walking the project with the team throughout build
- Payments at the start, progress and end of construction

What warranty does your business provide?
Integrated Outdoor Designs warrants structural work during the five-year period from the date of project completion.
The following is not considered structural:
- characteristics of natural material such as wood knots, cracks or checking
- aesthetic choices such as the color selected
- concrete hairline cracks

Project timelines vary based on the scope and complexity. Typically, the concrete forms are set and then quality inspected over a few days. After that, the pour typically occurs in a day. The drying process (during which we will ask that you stay off your concrete) typically takes a few days. If selected, the stamp and stain process take additional days during the overall process.
